Woodland Refuge

Elachee is a hidden jewel that has quietly grown and flourished over four decades to become a favorite North Georgia destination and event venue. Reminder: No dogs or pets allowed in Chicopee Woods Conservation Area as of January 1, 2021. This includes the hiking trails, parking areas, and Elachee Main Campus.

Elachee’s Aquatic Studies Center at Chicopee Lake

HOURS/DIRECTIONS By foot, hike 2.5 miles from the Elachee Visitor Center. By vehicle, access directly: 2100 Calvary Church Road, Gainesville, GA 30504

Used for pond and wetland studies, this scenic area is also a favorite site for birders. Parking lot is open daily, 7 a.m. to sunset. Note: there are no public restrooms and all vehicles subject to the Chicopee Woods Area Park Commission $5 daily parking fee.
