At Camp Elachee, we blend traditional outdoor camp activities with lively exploration in the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve.

We tailor age-appropriate adventures to give campers experiences that bring each weekly theme to life.

Things to Know

About Camp Elachee


Campers will participate in many traditional camp activities in addition to themed, weekly exploration and discovery.

WEEK 1: May 30-June 2, 2023 (4-day camp)
Forest Forensics…
Campers will take a deep dive into all things that call the forest home. They will explore animals, plants and waters that flow through our woods to discover their many habits and secrets. 

WEEK 2: June 5-9, 2023
Taking Flight…
Discover the world of birds. We will explore birds from the the small hummingbird to the large Great Horned Owl. Campers will learn more about how and why these creatures use flight for movement.

WEEK 3: June 12-16, 2023
Expedition Explorer…
Put on those thinking caps! This campers will be learning how to survive in the woods without technology and modern equipment. Campers will learn how to build a fire, make a shelter, tell which plants are safe and much more!

WEEK 4: June 19-23, 2023
Space Bound…
Blasting off to faraway places, campers will take a closer look at the solar system, stars and even Earth by working to solve mysteries through experiments and exciting activities.

WEEK 5: June 26-30, 2023
Water Wonders…
Get ready for lots of water fun! This week campers will be diving into lots of new knowledge while exploring Walnut Creek and all the critters that call the water home!

WEEK 6: July 5-7, 2023 (3-day camp)
Ancient Elachee…
Let’s dig back to a time long ago. Campers will learn about native people, dinosaurs, rocks, minerals and so much more!

WEEK 7: July 10-14, 2023
Buggy Business…
Take a look at the small world around us. Campers will examine bugs in a way that we have not in the past by exploring the small critters that call the wild home.

WEEK 8: July 17-21, 2023
Camp Rewind… Campers will be reliving some of the most loved parts of the summer! We will be circling back around to the activities and topics that were the most fun and exciting from previous camp weeks.

Pre-K Camps

Pre-K Summer Day Camps

  • Camp Weeks 2, 3, 4 and 5 (June 5 to June 30, 2023)
  • 8 a.m. to Noon (Monday-Friday)


CAMP GROUP SIZE: 10 Campers Per Week

PRE-K CAMP FEE: $190 Per Camper, Per Camp Week
To be eligible for a camp discount, Elachee Family Adventurer or Elachee Patron Membership must be current for the camp dates requested.

*PLEASE NOTE: Elachee’s Pre-Kindergarten camp policy is that all campers MUST be age 4 by the start of the camp week for which they are registered AND be able to toilet completely independently (ex: pull pants up and down, wipe, etc.). Accidents for children of this age are understandable and expected. However, a child who is clearly not toilet trained, or has excessive accidents (one or more per camp day), will result in parents being contacted to pick up the child. Additionally, should this happen, the camper’s registration for the week will be dropped without a refund.

Elementary Camps (K to rising 6th Grade)

Elementary Summer Day Camps

ELIGIBILITY: Ages 5 to 12, Kindergarten up to rising 6th Grade for 2023-2024.

CAMP GROUP SIZE: 114 Campers Per Week


  • $180 Per Camper = Week 1: May 30-June 2, 2023
  • $225 Per Camper = Weeks 2-5: June 5-30, 2023 and Weeks 7-8: July 10-21, 2023
  • $135 Per Camper = Week 6: July 5-7, 2023

What to Wear Each Day

  • Comfortable Close-Toe Shoes SUITABLE FOR HIKING AND PLAYING
  • Weather-appropriate Clothes
  • Each Tuesday and Thursday are Creek Days! Campers should wear swimsuits under their clothes and close-toe water shoes.

What to Bring Each Day

  • Backpack
  • Reusable Water Bottle
  • Lunch* and a Snack* *PACK IT IN. PACK IT OUT. LEAVE NO TRACE.
  • Sunscreen and Bug Spray APPLY BEFORE CAMP
  • Emergency Change of Clothes (optional)
  • Bring for Scheduled Creek Days: a Towel and an Extra Pair of Close-toe Shoes
Changes, Cancellations, Refunds


  • We will gladly accommodate your request for a change in registered Camp Week(s), if space is available.
  • Changes made with less than a two-week notice will include an additional $10 administrative fee.


  • Cancellations made two weeks or more prior to your child’s camp session are eligible for a refund, minus a $20 administrative fee per child/per camp week.
  • No refunds are made for cancellations with less than a two-week notice, except in the case of doctor-documented illness.
  • Elachee reserves the right to dismiss any camper to ensure the safety/health of all campers.

NOTE: Each request is considered on a case-by-case basis. There is no guarantee of a financial aid award.

Exemption Status

Camp Elachee meets the requirements and standards for ‘exemption status’ from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning’s Bright from the Start.

Attendance policies for Pre-Kindergarten require that each child will attend no more than four (4) hours per day.

Best Job Ever

Counselors-In-Training (CITs)


Camp Elachee provides teens the opportunity to gain leadership and team-building skills.

Supervised by the Camp Director and mentored by the Program Assistant, CITs will help Camp Counselors provide activities to campers in a safe and well-supervised outdoor setting.

CIT Work Requirements

Camp Elachee summer day camps take place for eight (8) consecutive weeks. Limited CIT positions are available.

Work Requirements: Must be able to hike a minimum of two (2) miles per day on uneven terrain and to comfortably work outside for extended periods in the summer heat and rain.

CIT Application and Registration

Camp Registration Opens February 1

  • Teens interested in becoming a Camp Elachee CIT should email the Camp Director,
  • The Camp Director will invite applicants to a face-to-face interview prior to registration in late spring.
  • Once accepted and registered, CITs will be assigned a camp group with which they will assist throughout the week.

Counselors-in-Training Camp Fee: $50 Per CIT, Per Camp Week (2-week commitment required)
