Preschool Teacher (ENA)

Preschool Teacher (ENA): Position Details

Provide a safe and developmentally appropriate nature-based preschool program in accordance with Elachee Nature Science Center’s mission and the State of Georgia’s Bright from the Start mandated guidelines.

Work Schedule

  • 190 Day Contract ENA 2022-2023 CALENDAR
  • 7:30am-3:30pm, with some evening or weekend responsibilities
  • Elachee follows Hall County School System calendar

Typical Duties:

  • Help implement a program that increases students’ awareness and curiosity about nature, their interactions with nature, and ensure their individual holistic development and safety in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Utilize GELDS standards to support student learning in our 1440-acre Preserve.

Requirements / Eligibility

  • Experience working with children ages 3 to 5 years.
  • Willingness to encourage young minds in daily outdoor exploration and discovery, while striving to create a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Ability to hike each day up to 1- 2 miles in a variety of outdoor conditions.
  • Hold or obtain a current CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Satisfactory National Background and Fingerprint Check, and Drug Screening.

Preschool Teacher Assistant (ENA): Position Details

Support teacher(s) and other staff members to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate nature-based preschool program in accordance with Elachee Nature Science Center’s mission and the State of Georgia’s Bright from the Start mandated guidelines.

Work Schedule

  • 190-Day School Year (August to May) ENA 2022-2023 CALENDAR
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm
  • Elachee follows Hall County School System calendar

Typical Duties:

  • Support Preschool Teacher to implement a program that increases students’ awareness and curiosity about nature, their interactions with nature, and ensures their individual holistic development and safety in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Support student learning and help provide student supervision in our 1440-acre Nature Preserve.

Requirements / Eligibility

  • Experience working with children ages 3 to 5 years.
  • Willingness to encourage young minds in daily outdoor exploration and discovery, while striving to create a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Ability to hike each day up to 1 to 2 miles in a variety of outdoor conditions.

Teaching Naturalist

Do you want to help cultivate next generation Earth stewards? As a teaching naturalist you will lead environmental education programs for children and youth visiting on field trips. Responsibilities include on-site classroom teaching, experiential instruction on trail hikes and outreach programs.

Teaching Naturalist: Position Details

Work Schedule/Pay

  • Average of 10- to 15-hours per week to conduct 3- to 4-hour programs. Elachee Naturalists are also asked to lead occasional evening or weekend programs.
  • Salary starts at $14.00 per hour.

Qualifications / Eligibility

  • A college degree in education, science or a related field is preferred, and some previous college attendance is required.
  • Experience in working with children is a must.
  • Applicants subject to a Background Check, Driving Record Check and Drug Screening.

Typical Duties / Requirements

  • Enthusiastically engage young minds in memorable and relevant nature encounters.
  • Teach supplemental PreK-12 STEAM-based environmental curriculum that aligns with grade level Georgia Standards for Excellence (GSE). DETAILS

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including light lifting.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
