Volunteers are Vital to Elachee
Volunteers positively impact every aspect of Elachee operations! We identify projects, schedule and provide supervisory oversight for individual volunteers and groups seeking community service opportunities. Due to the seasonal nature of our needs and limitations on the number of individuals required for scheduled projects and/or public program events, Elachee may not be able to fulfill every volunteer request. However, please CONTACT US to share your interests.
Ways You Can Help
- Elachee Environmental Education Programs
Get involved with Elachee’s seasonal public programs and caring for resident creatures in our Live Animal Exhibits.
- Elachee Conservation and Grounds Maintenance
Put in sweat equity with our Trail Crew, Garden Crew, or as a Trail Steward. LEARN MORE
- Elachee Signature Events
If wheeling, dealing and administration are your strengths, join one of our annual seasonal event steering committees or lend a hand on event day.
- AGE REQUIREMENT
Volunteers must be age 14 or older. Any volunteer under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult, age 21 or older. For scheduled volunteer groups with participants under age 18, Elachee requires one (1) adult for every seven (7) minors. When a minor volunteers for an Elachee seasonal public program event, the adult accompaniment may be waived in lieu of a completed Parental/Legal Guardian consent form.
- COMMUNITY SERVICE RESTRICTIONS
Individuals who have been convicted of misdemeanor crimes and who are actively participating in court-approved probation with out sentencing, work release or alternative sentencing programs, may serve as a volunteer at the discretion of Elachee Nature Science Center. Prohibited from any Elachee volunteer program are persons convicted of a felony including a violent crime, a crime against persons or a crime involving use of a weapon.
