COVID-19 preparedness protocol for all Elachee field trip school programs at Elachee’s Main Campus, Chicopee Lake and at River Forks Park for the LLALC program:

  • Program attendees will be required to wear face coverings to every reasonable extent during their program when indoors. Visiting Group Leader and/or other chaperones will be responsible for ensuring that this requirement is met.
  • Visiting Group Leader will be required to provide face coverings for all program attendees.
  • Elachee personnel are required to wear face coverings to every reasonable extent during the program when indoors.

Aquatic Studies

  • Lake Lanier Aquatic Study

  • Lake Lanier Water Quality Index  

    This Lake Lanier Aquatic Learning Center (LLALC) program is ideal for an AP Biology or Environmental Science class. Students conduct nine (9) different tests aboard the Chota Princess II floating classroom to determine the overall water quality of Lake Lanier. Tests include dissolved oxygen, fecal coliform, pH, biochemical oxygen demand, temperature change, total phosphates, nitrates, turbidity and total solids. Limited to 30 students.

  • Astronomy for Middle Schoolers

    Determine relative position of planets, the solar system, solar and lunar eclipses, phases of the moon and more through this virtual program in Starlab, Elachee’s portable planetarium. GSE – S6E1, S6E2; AKS – S6-B

  • Habitats and Adaptations

    Study the behavioral and structural ways plants and animals interact with their habitats. GSE – S7L4; AKS – S7-B, F

  • Stream Life

    Catch and classify aquatic vertebrate and invertebrate animals and then conduct chemical tests in order to evaluate the streams of the Chicopee Woods. Both 2-hour and 3-hour program options available. GSE – S7L1, S7L4; AKS – S7-B, F
