Explore, Discover and Learn

Elachee’s STEAM-based environmental education curricula include grade-appropriate life, earth and physical science programming to complement your lessons. This supplemental instruction enables students to interact with the natural world. All Elachee programs correlate with the Georgia Standards for Excellence (GSE) and Gwinnett County Schools Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS).

During an Elachee field trip, students will explore, discover and learn about the plants, animals and natural systems of the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve. Elachee is nestled in this incomparable outdoor classroom that is one of Georgia’s largest and most diverse protected green spaces, where many natural science concepts are on full display.

Although most programs combine a classroom presentation with an interpretive hike in the Chicopee Woods, or other complementary outdoor activities, Elachee’s skilled instructors teach some entirely outdoors.

“The students loved this program. I was thrilled they had the experience of learning outside the classroom, to smell the dirt and water, and to get a little messy!” – Shiloh Point Elementary, Forsyth County Schools, Cumming, GA
