  This Lake Lanier Aquatic Learning Center (LLALC) program is ideal for an AP Biology or Environmental Science class. Students conduct nine (9) different tests aboard the Chota Princess II floating classroom to determine the overall water quality of Lake Lanier. Tests include dissolved oxygen, fecal coliform, pH, biochemical oxygen demand, temperature change, total phosphates, nitrates, turbidity and total solids. Limited to 30 students. Students climb aboard the LLALC floating classroom, Chota Princess II, for a hands-on exploration of the history, ecology and challenges facing Lake Sidney Lanier. On shore, Elachee instructors engage students in related watershed activities.

Many grade-specific school field trip programs allow students to conduct pond and wetland studies on the shores of Chicopee Lake. This secluded spot also works well for smaller groups to enjoy an Elachee field trip experience. The site features a spacious lake boardwalk and covered teaching pavilion, with restroom access (during scheduled programs). This area is also a favorite site for birders.

Situated across the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve from Elachee Nature Science Center, access to Chicopee Lake requires a 2.5 mile hike from the Visitor Center through the Nature Preserve or a 10-minute drive around its perimeter.
