Hikers: Use Caution

WATCH YOUR STEP! The 8-mile Chicopee Woods hiking trail system received a staggering amount of rainfall this weekend thanks to remnants of Hurricane Delta (October 10-11, 2020). Trails and bridges are very slick, covered in debris and silt, suffered erosion or are not accessible until the water recedes.

Use caution the week of October 12, 2020 along the Chicopee Woods 8-mile hiking trail system due to epic rains in the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve over the weekend.

DO NOT wade through standing water and USE EXTREME CAUTION when crossing bridge structures over swollen creeks that may be flowing faster than normal.

The Elachee Nature Science Center volunteer trail crew is evaluating the entire trail system to assess damage.
