Discovery Saturdays at Elachee: Guided Hikes, Stars Over Elachee

The Elachee Visitor Center and Exhibits are open today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for general admission. Check out the multiple scheduled programs as part of Discovery Saturdays at Elachee for January 16, 2021. 

Parking: All vehicles subject to the Chicopee Woods Area Park Commission parking fee.

Enjoy a Hibernation Hike Today

Saturday, January 16, 2021 join an Elachee Naturalist who will guide you on a 2-hour hike in the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve to learn about hibernation. Then tour Elachee’s Live Animal Exhibit. Choose between a morning or an early afternoon hike session. Morning Hike is from 10 a.m. to Noon and the Afternoon Hike is from 1 to 3 p.m. No Dogs or Pets. No strollers allowed during hike.

Register for one of Elachee's Live Animal Showcases for a guided presentation as you meet some of Elachee's resident animal ambassadors.

Visitors may register online until 4 p.m., January 15, 2021 for a guided hike session.

On Saturday, January 16, 2021, check program availability at the Elachee Visitor Center admission desk. Note: Program fee is included as part of your paid admission.

  • Elachee members FREE!
  • Visitors must follow CDC social distancing guidelines, as well as posted instructions. Masks or other appropriate facial coverings are required for all indoor areas.

Stars Over Elachee Telescope Program

Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Chicopee Lake (see below)

Per Telescope* Program Fee: $30 
Elachee has eight (8) telescopes available.*Reservations per telescope are for up to five (5) individuals from the same family or friend group.

Stars Over Elachee Telescope Program, Saturday evening, January 16, 2021 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., by reservation only.Learn to set up and use a telescope, then embark on a guided tour of the night sky to see the first quarter moon and bright seasonal stars. This Elachee astronomy education program is most meaningful for adults and children aged 8 and older. Program begins at dusk. Bring a flashlight and pencil. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Only registered participant/groups allowed during the Stars Over Elachee program. All participants are subject to CDC guidance for social distancing. Dress for the weather. No restrooms or indoor facilities. Dog and pets prohibited on campus.
