May 14: Eco Discovery Saturday at Elachee

Welcome! The Chicopee Woods Hiking Trails and Elachee Exhibits are open to visitors.

The following programs are individually priced and require separate registrations, as noted. Make it a day. Bring your lunch and enjoy the Elachee Campus in between sessions. Educators are eligible for a 20% session discount (applied during registration). 

Eco Discovery Saturday at Elachee is presented by Northside Hospital, host sponsor New Urban Forestry and program sponsor Syfan Logistics, Inc.

SESSION 1 is 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Morning Outdoor Yoga

Program Fee: $20 Per Person Limited to 20 Participants (BY REGISTRATION ONLY)
Eligible for ages 14 and older. This morning vinyasa (flow) will focus on linking mindful movement with breath and is suited for all levels. Bring your own yoga mat and water bottle.

 

SESSION 2 is 11 a.m.-Noon

Outdoor Sound Bath Experience

Program Fee: $35 Per Person Limited to 30 Participants (BY REGISTRATION ONLY)
Eligibility, ages 14 and older. Join Sound Healer and Reiki Master Rebecca Turk of SNDBAth in a meditative and healing journey of sound to help reduce stress, promote restful sleep and relax body tension by producing a specific resonance and tone. Bring your own yoga mat, blankets and/or sleeping bag, warm comfortable clothing, pillows for head and/or back, and an eye mask (or SNDBath will provide an eye mask, as needed).

 

*SESSION 4 is 2-3 p.m.

Vermicomposting 101 Workshop

Worms in Your Kitchen

Program Fee: $15 Per Person Limited to 20 Participants
Eligibility, ages 16 and older. This hands-on program takes the Composting 101 Workshop a step further! Learn how to use worms to change food waste into natural fertilizer. You will make your own vermicomposting container!

 

*SESSION 5 is 1-2 p.m.

“The Ugly Butterfly”

Book Reading and Discussion

Program Fee: $5 Per Person
Local Gainesville, Georgia Author Jessica Espinoza will read her new children’s book. She will discuss why all pollinators are important, plus why it is okay to ‘stand out.’ Limited copies of “The Ugly Butterfly” will be available for purchase through the Elachee Nature Shop for Jessica to sign.

Live Animal Showcases

Meet Elachee’s Live Animal Ambassadors during a 45-minute presentation with an Elachee Teaching Naturalist and then tour the Live Animal Exhibit.
