Elachee Seats 2017 Board of Trustees
Elachee welcomes three new Trustees and names the 34th recipient of the prestigious Oak Leaf Award.
January 10, 2017 (Gainesville, Ga.) – Elachee Nature Science Center honored Dallas Gay with the prestigious Oak Leaf Award at its recent annual gathering of Trustees and Advisors, held at Brenau University. This annual meeting also made official Elachee’s 2017 slate of Trustees.
Gay, Board Chairman of Gainesville-based Protein Products, Inc. and Treasurer of Elachee’s Board of Trustees since 2008, received the 34th annual Oak Leaf Award. This award is given each year to a Trustee making a significant impact to the organization through extraordinary efforts. He was selected in recognition of his instrumental role the past year and dedication in re-engineering the organization’s financial reporting processes.
“We are very grateful for the innumerable hours Dallas has given Elachee to make something complicated very simple so it is streamlined and relevant for both staff and our Trustees,” explained Andrea Timpone, President/CEO of Elachee.
"Dallas Gay has been, and continues to be, a great friend and supporter of Elachee,” commented Elachee’s Board of Trustees Chair, the Hon. John Girardeau. “We are fortunate to have someone of his ability and dedication on our Board of Trustees."
A tradition at this annual gathering, Timpone also welcomed the Nature Center’s newly appointed Trustees: Kelvin Whisenhunt of Oakwood, Ga., and Richard Oates and Trey Wood, both of Gainesville, Ga.
“Elachee has one of the strongest Board of Trustees of any non-profit organization I've been associated with over many years,” stated Girardeau. “These new members will only make it stronger. I look forward to working with them."
Whisenhunt is an Associate at Booz Allen and Hamilton. Oates is Gainesville Campus Vice President for the University of North Georgia, and Wood is a Partner at Turner, Wood and Smith Insurance. They join Elachee’s 2017 Board of Trustees, including: Chair John Girardeau, Vice Chair Rob Robinson, Secretary Kelly Ann Miles, Treasurer Dallas Gay, along with Trustees Emily Bagwell, Beth Bell, Maria Calkins, Will Cobb, Lance Gardner, Steve Gilliam, Jock Hornor, Jay Kilroy, Gale McKibbon, Martha Nesbitt, Ed Schrader, Al Trembley, Dixie Truelove, Jane White and R.K. Whitehead (Emeritus).
