Inching its way to full operational status, until further notice Elachee will admit visitors Thursday through Saturday each week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., to tour the natural history, ecology and live animal exhibits. Elachee naturalists will also resume the popular live animal showcase for paid guests each Saturday, with these programs taking place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Elachee Nature Science Center to reopen Thursday through Saturday each week starting June 11, 2020.

Plan your visit to Elachee. Nature Center admission is $5 per adult and $3 for children ages 2-12. Elachee members get in free and benefit from an Elachee Nature Shop discount on every purchase! All vehicles are subject to the Chicopee Woods Area Park Commission parking fee. As well, visitors must follow posted restrictions and abide by CDC social distancing guidelines.

On March 13, 2020, the Nature Center suspended public access to Elachee facilities and exhibits due to concerns over COVID-19. However, Elachee has remained committed to providing uninterrupted, daily public access to the 8-mile hiking trail system, in the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve. Open daily from 7 a.m. to sunset, this natural sanctuary has proven to be an invaluable community resource for individuals to stretch their legs and recharge during this time of crisis. Consequently, visitors accessing these trails have doubled as compared to the same time period in 2019.

To encourage individuals to become familiar with these hiking trails, Elachee has created the Hiking for Health 150-mile Chicopee Challenge. This independent program, presented by Elachee 2020 Annual Platinum Sponsor Northside Hospital, rewards hikers who reach their goal with a free, limited edition t-shirt.
