(Middle) 7-8th Grade Summer Day Camps

Camper Eligibility 

Elachee Nature Science Center's Camp Elachee 2021 is presented by Northside Hospital.

Elachee’s Middle School weekly summer day camps are for young people entering 7th and 8th grade in the fall. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited and is filled on a first-come basis.

(Middle) 7-8th Grade Camp Overview

Camp Elachee 2021 offers five (5) weekly summer day camps for (Middle) 7-8th graders. Activities vary with some physically challenging, or that may require specific equipment and gear. Among the exciting adventures campers will experience are visits from Elachee naturalists, special guest presenters and a enjoy a special adventure.  

(Middle) 7-8th Grade Camp Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

(Middle) 7-8th Grade Camp Fees: $225 per camper, per camp week 

  • Elachee members receive a $20 discount per camper, per camp week.
    Your membership must be current for the camp weeks your child is attending to receive the member discount. 
  • Early-Bird Registration Discount
    Register your camper from February 1-28, 2021 to receive an additional 10-percent discount. 
  • Camp Elachee Financial Aid
    Elachee supporters make possible financial assistance for Camp Elachee participants. Call 770-535-1976 to request a copy of the Camp Elachee financial aid guidelines and application. Requests are considered on a case-by-case basis. There is no guarantee of a financial aid award.

Camp Elachee 2021: (Middle) 7-8th Grade Camp Themes 

June 1-4: Junior Naturalists
Young people interested in topics such as biology, zoology, ecology, entomology and ornithology will become Junior Naturalists by learning from experienced Elachee senior naturalists. Campers will enjoy a week of lessons and activities focused on the natural environment of Elachee.

June 14-18: STEAM in the Outdoors
Ready. Set. STEAM! Science, technology, engineering, art and math are all important when interpreting the mysteries of the natural world. Campers will explore STEAM concepts to learn about sustainability and conservation, as well as perform various experiments while exploring the Chicopee Woods.

June 28-July 2: Careers in Nature
Want to find out what its like to care for room full of reptiles or what it takes to care for a bird of prey? What do foresters actually do? And how do scientists determine the health of Walnut Creek or Chicopee Lake? Campers will delve into and explore the different paths environmental careers can offer!

July 12-16: Camper vs. The Wild
You’ve been dropped in the woods without a tent or a cell phone… can you survive? Learn how during a week of wilderness survival training! Complete endurance courses and learn how to use a compass. Campers will also learn the basics of wilderness first aid and how to build a shelter out of natural materials to conquer The Wild!

July 26-30: Camp Rewind
