Waters of Time-Platt Exhibit Hall
This exhibit follows the meanderings of Walnut Creek through past in the Chicopee Woods. Learn about inhabitants of the area through dioramas, actual fossils and artifacts, and hands-on activities. Beginning with a display of two authentic fossilized Mosasaur skeletons, and continuing on through the Ice Age, Native American, Colonial, and 20th Century periods, the Waters of Time story will bring you to the present day and give you a glimpse of what the future holds for the Chicopee Woods. Highlights include visual and hands-on activities for children including a 1-ton petrified log, displays of actual fossils and artifacts, and pottery rubbings to make and take home.
Searching for Spaceship EarthAstronomy Hall
Take a "voyage" to outer space in our Astronomy Hall, filled with an array of displays to acquaint you with our solar system, planet Earth, and beyond. Discover how much you weigh on other planets, make a rubbing of star constellations, see a 100 pound meteorite older than earth, and watch an astronomy video. Children will enjoy the moonscape, hands-on activities and special reading area. See the latest in earth science and astronomical discoveries through ViewSpace, a constantly updating video displaying images of earth, planets, and the universe taken from Hubble and other telescopes and space probes traveling throughout the universe. A direct feed from STScI presents the latest and most beautiful images and information in astronomy and earth science, funded through a grant from the North Georgia Community Foundation.
Live Animal Exhibits Visit our live animal room with native amphibians and reptiles; view our two Red Tailed Hawks in the aviary; and see if you can spot the anoles in the lobby. Check out our habitat computer game and don't forget to examine all the intriguing nature objects at our "touch tables".
