Volunteer Opportunities
|
Volunteer Naturalist
Volunteer naturalists are trained individuals who assist
Elachee in teaching visiting school children about nature. Most walk on
the trails with a small group of 10-15, pointing out natural features,
identifying plant and animal life, and reinforcing concepts learned during
classroom sessions. The low-key and informative training teaches you the
basics of field interpretation, identification of wildflowers, shrubs and
trees, and how to sample aquatic life. This is a great way to learn about
nature, get some exercise in a beautiful setting, and help children learn
more about nature. See the Calendar of
Events for training opportunities.

| Fundraising Events
Elachee's primary fundraiser is the Safari Fall
Fundraiser (a casual dinner and auction at the Center). This
fundraising event requires many volunteer hands and hours to make
it successful. Your help with donations, decorations, set-up and even administrative tasks is sincerely appreciated.
Each Spring, Elachee also hosts Flights of Fancy at our Chicopee Lake site on Calvary Church Road. This casual evening includes hors d'oevres, beverages, music and a silent auction of birdhouses and unique yard art. If you are interested in donating a piece for the auction or would like to assist in some other way, please call us at 770/535-1976.
Both Spring and Fall present an opportunity to assist with our native plant sales. Our pre-order format still requires help with the delivery and pick-up of the plants by our customers. |
