Morning Bird Hikes
Birders

Monday - Friday, April 21st-25th, 8-10am.
Join expert birders for these easy 3 hour hikes as we visit the best birding habitats of Hall County in search of warblers, tanagers, and other beautiful songbirds. Attend one session or the entire week for a chance to see many species native to our area in addition to a wide variety of those migrating through to their summer homes in the north. It's a prime opportunity to catch a look at those birds not seen in our area except at migration time.

Monday, April 21st, 8:00 – 11:00. Elachee Nature Center – Dunlap Trail. Meet in the Overflow Parking Lot. This beautiful woodland trail will produce its share of wood warblers, tanagers, thrushes, gnat catchers, flycatchers and more.  Last year’s hike hear was one of the weeks’ most productive days. Program Fee: $5 per person, Free for members.

Tuesday, April 22nd, 8:00 – 11:00. Tumbling Creek/Gainesville State College.  Park near the lower ponds on the Gainesville State Campus and we will walk the gentle trails through this great stretch of wetlands and mature forest in search of vireos, a variety of warblers, nesting hawks, tanagers, and more. Program Fee: $5 per person, Free for members.

Wednesday, April 23rd, 8:00 -11:00. Wilshire Trails/ Wilshire Park, Gainesville, GA
This beautiful greenway has produced a variety of great birds on previous hikes including nesting Red-shouldered Hawks, Black-throated Green Warblers, Baltimore Orioles, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks,  Louisiana Water thrush and more. Program Fee: $5 per person, Free for members.

Thursday, April 24th, 8:00 – 11:00. Chicopee Lake/ Dunlap Trail.   Always a great spot for a tremendous variety of birds. See waders, shorebirds, warblers, tanagers, kingbirds, grosbeaks, and more. Program Fee: $5 per person, Free for members.

Friday, April 25th, 8:00 – 11:00.  The Nabb Farm, Poplar Springs Road. The rolling hills, varying forest types and two ponds make this a wonderful new addition to our birding sites. Expect to see a wide variety of birds and great vistas are ideal for scoping. Program Fee: $5 per person, Free for members.

Program Fee: $5/person per session, $20/person for the entire week. All sessions are free for Elachee members. Individual membership is $35/year, Family membership is $55/year. Investigate membership.

Elachee's Earth Day. Saturday, April 19th, 10am -  2pm.
Bird aficionados will enjoy attending Earth Day at Elachee where the the main attraction will be live raptors on display including a flighted raptor show by SOAR (Save Our American Raptors) of Canton, GA. It's a great chance to see these magnificent birds of prey up close and learn about their habits. The day will include many other earth-friendly activities for the whole family including hikes, crafts and demonstrations. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 2-12, children under 2 and Elachee members are free.  Proceeds will benefit Elachee’s education programs. Learn more here.

Neo-Tropical Migratory Birds.
Learn about migratory birds that visit our area in this educational exhibit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Explore how they get here, why they are declining and what you can do to help. Listen to a sampling of bird songs used by these annual visitors. Adults, $5; Children 2-12, $3; Under 2 & Elachee members free. Learn more here.
