The Chicopee Lake site is a great spot for migrating species of birds. This family festival will include bird hikes around the lake for all levels of birders, mini-workshops by Elachee staff, children’s learning games and crafts, and the main attraction…live raptors on display including a flighted raptor show by SOAR (Save Our American Raptors) of Canton, GA. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 2-12, children under 2 and Elachee members are free. Proceeds will benefit Elachee’s education programs. Sponsored by The Shirley Family Foundation. |

Appreciate beautiful birds through the eyes of Richard Parks, Georgia’s acclaimed bird artist, as we host a selection of his original watercolors. Both resident and migratory Georgia birds are included in this grouping. Admission (includes museum and live animal exhibit): Adults, $3; Children 2-12, $2; Under 2 & Elachee members free. |
Atlanta ornithologist and artist Richard Parks is known throughout scientific and artistic circles. His attention to the characteristic details of each species and its habitat reflect a lifetime of close personal observation.
Mr. Parks’ paintings have been used to illustrate Alabama Birds, Birds of Colorado, and The Bobwhite Quail. His design was chosen for the 1984 Georgia Wildlife Management Area stamp and his original painting of the Brown Thrasher and Cherokee Rose hangs in the Georgia Governor’s mansion. |
