PondBoardwalk

Pond Critters.
Come to the boardwalk on Chicopee Lake and see what kind of creatures live in the pond. Our trained naturalists will be using nets to scoop up samples from the pond for you to investigate some of the creatures that make the pond their home.

Geocachers

Geocache.
Do you like scavenger hunts? You'll enjoy learning about geocaching from the Georgia Geocachers. It's a great family activity that gets the kids outside, moving, and having fun all at the same time. Use a GPS (Global Positioning System) unit to search for cache boxes hidden in the woods. The cache contains rewards or goodies for the finder who in turn leaves a surprise for the next finder. This adventure game provides an opportunity to learn about navigation, habitats, geography, and good stewardship for being in the woods. The opportunities for caches are boundless with sites all over the world and internet access for locating them locally and abroad.

Bird Scope

Bird watch.
We'll have binoculars and our bird scope set up at the lake to give you a close-up view of all the birds that live there or are visiting us on their migration journey. It's a great chance to see waterfowl like ducks and herons that live at the lake in addition to hawks and other birds of prey flying overhead. This time of year nesters and songbirds abound creating a chance to see warblers, flycatchers and tanagers among others.

suspension bridge

Hike to suspension bridge.
We'll be taking a group of adventurous hikers on a mile hike to the suspension bridge. Along the way you'll have an opportunity to see the many signs of spring appearing in the woods including wildflowers, songbirds and trees sporting their new leaves.

GopherBoy
Gopher Boy

Elachee critters.
We'll have a couple of our resident Elachee critters for you to meet up close - will it be a gopher tortoise, one of our unusually colored corn snakes or our highly popular euromastx lizards? You'll have to be surprised with the choice of our animal curator according to which critters are ready to meet the public that day.
