Nature Science Center has hosted quality environmental education
camps in the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve for over 30 years.
Each week of camp uniquely blends traditional camp activities
and inquiry based learning opportunities set in the beautiful
Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve. The pace is slow and children-friendly.
Our campers study nature while walking trails, wading in creeks,
creating crafts, and singing songs. Their adventures and experiences
at Camp Elachee increase their knowledge and appreciation of nature while they strengthen life-long connections
to the natural world. A sample day at Camp Elachee provides insight into the daily timeline and types of activities campers may experience.
Our
Staff
We pride ourselves in attracting and selecting experienced, enthusiastic,
friendly, and knowledgeable camp staff who enjoy and respect children.
Our counselors have degrees or are pursuing degrees in science, education,
or related fields. For pre-K campers, ratios are 1:5. For elementary
and middle school, ratios are 1:12.
